FIFPRO: Infantino thinks of himself as God, the so-called global feast of the Club World Cup is nothing more than a fictional performance
FIFPRO, the International Professional Players Association, issued a stern statement hours before the Club World Cup final, expressing dissatisfaction with the competition conditions and the lack of effective dialogue in FIFA. In the statement, FIFPRO called FIFA President Gianni Infantino a “self-righteous man” and lashed out at the way he organized it, emphasizing the disconnect between managers and players’ reality. Although the Club World Cup has brought exciting moments for fans and brought together numerous football stars, FIFPRO pointed out that this should not hide the issues behind it.
statement mentioned: "Although the recent Club World Cup has inspired enthusiasm, we must make it clear that this event hides a dangerous disconnect, namely the reality faced by most players. The so-called global football feast is nothing more than a fictional performance of the people who support the sport, curated by FIFA. This practice is compared to the "bread and circus" of Nero in the Roman era, using entertainment to distract the public, while ignoring the increasing inequality and instability of the players."
union also pointed out that many players have poor working conditions. They said: "Most players cannot receive full salary and can only play for a few months a year, and there is no stable job security, medical security and decent working conditions. FIFA completely ignores this reality."
In addition, FIFPRO criticized the climate conditions during the game, believing that high temperatures pose a threat to the physical health of players. They warned: "The game was played in extremely hot conditions, which poses a risk to the physical safety of the players."
and stressed that this situation should not be repeated in the next World Cup. The union also criticized the issue of overly intensive schedules, which they have been paying attention to for years.
FIFPRO said: "We have been reminding the lack of physical and psychological rest for players and the lack of dialogue between FIFA. This unilateral pursuit of economic interests ignores human well-being."
FIFPRO reiterated: "The marketing machine cannot be promoted at the expense of player health. We will continue to defend player rights and require FIFA to adopt an inclusive approach and respect players."
This statement coincides with FIFA's announcement of an agreement with other New York player unions that requires at least 72 hours of rest between each game and 21 days off after the end of each season. However, FIFPRO was not involved in the agreement and expressed clear concerns about the way the Club World Cup was organized, highlighting concerns about the health of players and future games.
