He deserves it! Romano rarely writes a long article to speak out for Maguire: Don’t give up on your dreams if the world criticizes you

In the 8th round of the Premier League, Maguire made 8 clearances and contributed a winning header, helping Manchester United defeat Liverpool 2-1.

The famous journalist Romano published a long article today (very rare) to speak out for Maguire:

In my opinion, Maguire deserves a separate article. It may seem a bit special...but I believe it's worth it, and not just for football fans.

Just days after he scored the winning goal at Anfield and once again became a Manchester United hero, the story of Maguire over the years is still lingering in my mind.

It is too easy for people to forget now - how many hardships Maguire has experienced over the years since joining Manchester United for a sky-high transfer fee in 2019.

But the player has no control over the transfer fee...it is purely a club decision. Players are not robots. They usually try their best to perform, but sometimes it backfires.

This transfer fee has nothing to do with Maguire...but the overwhelming abuse, attacks, stupid posts, memes, and worse words and deeds on social media are on an unprecedented scale. It was simply unsightly.

Imagine being insulted every week for poor performance. It can happen to anyone... but the abuse Maguire has endured (he is far from the only player in a slump) is too much. This is completely unacceptable.

And I am sure that 50% of the foreign netizens who attacked him have never watched the game. They just opened their accounts and made sarcastic comments about Maguire.

But sometimes the world of football can be full of love. Maguire never complained, never overreacted, never responded to anyone. Train hard, persevere, and never give up. Follow your dream and be at your best as a Manchester United player.

Losing the captain’s armband? It doesn't matter. Stay focused, assist your teammates, and give your best in every game and every training session.

Maguire was not a bad player once, and he is not a Ballon d'Or winner now. It’s those moments that matter – whether it’s football, sport or life. This is a story that applies to all fans, players, other sports enthusiasts and just people in general.

After scoring at Anfield, Maguire said: "I am very happy because I have loved this club for many years... and because on this day, our fans can be happy. They deserve it all."

Let others say it, let others criticize it. Don't give up on your dreams. Work harder. Give your best effort...and good things will come.
