Official: Brighton extend contract with backup goalkeeper Jason Steele until 2027

Brighton officially announced that it has extended the contract of goalkeeper Jason Steele until 2027.
Steele joined Brighton in 2018 and has made 60 appearances in various competitions so far. He has previously played for clubs such as Middlesbrough, Northampton, Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland.
Brighton head coach Herzeler said: "I am very pleased that Steele will continue to be with us for the next few years. He has a great influence in the dressing room and maintains high standards every day on and off the pitch. I am delighted that he will be with us over the next few seasons. ."
Steele said: "The progress the club has made since I came to Brighton is incredible. Hopefully I can complete the ten-year journey here and it will be an extraordinary achievement for me personally."
"We have a very good group of people. The coaches and goalkeepers motivate each other to continuously improve their daily performance. Everyone wants to give the best of themselves every day. "
"I'm looking forward to continuing to contribute to Brighton's future. Our goal this season is to qualify for Europe again. "
"Playing in Europe two years ago was a wonderful experience. If we can maintain a stable performance, I believe we have a chance to do it again. The team is a young lineup, but it also has experienced players. This configuration, coupled with our overall strength, is fully competitive. "
