AMD has developed customized SoC with a hands-on micro-development, locking the full-platform game layout

AMD and Micro Xbox are actively developing the next generation of customized system single chips (SoCs), not only for the next generation of Xbox game hosts, but also to PCs and handheld devices, aiming to establish a cross-platform system in game ecosystems.
The SoC will be the core of the next-generation Xbox host and simultaneously support other devices that will be launched soon, such as the ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally, which are scheduled to be launched late this year. Both are equipped with AMD Ryzen™ Z2 A processor, showing that AMD and Micro are accelerating the layout of the belt-mounted gaming device market.
AMD's second quarter financial report showed that the client and the game department performed strongly, with the user's revenue reaching US$2.5 billion (about NT$74.6 billion), an annual increase of 66.7%; the game department received US$1.1 billion (about NT$3.28 billion), an annual increase of 83.3%. This growth mainly comes from the sales of Ryzen CPUs and Radeon GPUs, reflecting the popularity of the game market. Under this trend, the position of customized SoC in cross-platform gaming ecosystems is becoming increasingly important, and it is expected to become the core driving force for promoting the hardware upgrade of host and palm machines in the future.

At the same time, AMD also cooperated with Sony to develop the next generation of PlayStation dedicated SoC, which will span the strategic layout of two major game hosting facilities, further strengthening its leading position in the global game chip market.
It is worth noting that how does AMD extend the integrated SoC to the PC market? Although a unified architecture helps developers optimize cross-platform gaming experience, in the desktop field, the welding design of SoCs may limit players to freely upgrade their hardware. However, this strategy is still expected to attract high attention in the computer, Mini PC and pre-computer markets, and promote the overall integration of game life.
